Adding a Company

This is one characteristic of the wiki software which is a bit quirky.

To add a new page, you have to create a link on an existing page e.g. New Company Ltd, then save the page and click on the new link (which should show in red if there is not yet a page for it).

Alternatively you can copy and paste this address in the address bar: http://ownershipmatters.co.uk/wiki/index.php5?title=New_Company_Ltd&action=edit where New_Company_Ltd is the company name.

Company names containing the symbol ‘&’ (for example, A.G. Parfett & Sons Ltd) should be stored with ‘and’ instead of ‘&’. This is because the symbol ‘&’ is used by the wiki software for special purposes.

Deleting a Company

The wiki system doesn't allow for deletes as such - basically you just delete the data from the page and save it with some cursory text such as "entry closed". That way, the history is always there if anyone has a need to check it.

Changing a Company Name

Because the wiki software stores data by company name, changing a company name requires the following steps:

1. add a new page for the new company name (following the steps in ‘Adding a Company’).

2. copy the page content across from the page for the old company name to the new company name, and save

3. delete the page content under the old company name, and save.

Administration page

From the following page:

http://ownershipmatters.co.uk/wiki/index.php5?title=Special:SpecialPages

you get a list of lots of built-in pages that may be of interest - such as a complete list of pages, recent changes and information about users. This will be of more use once others are using the site.
