Parfetts is a Cash and Carry Wholesale company with six large depots in the North of England, and also owns six retail stores trading as "Local 4 U". Founded in 1980 it has traded as a family business until 2008 when after a review of succession issues it was decided that the best way to sustain the company culture and ethics, and to protect its eomployees, was a transition to Employee Ownership. This was unanimously agreed by the family and the first stage was the sale of 55% to the employee trust. There is a further agreement in place between family and employees that the remaining 45% will be sold at some time between 2013 and 2016.
